Since this day all the festivals begins, as a preface to all events taking place this expected month by Cordoban people and, increasingly, by tourists from all corners of Spain, and we expect it to be the world people soon.
know that in other cities of Spain, like Valencia or Laredo (Cantabria) it took place in the end of the XIX century and the beginning of the XX century. On the other hand we know that in other cities the "Battle of Flowers" is celebrated, however, it is difficult to know what is the place that this festival really comes. In our city the first began in the 40s. But it stopped during a lot of years. Then in the middle of the 80s the "Battle of flowers" began again, and since then it has been held continuously until today. .

More than twenty charriots are gathered, this is the result of effort and dedication of our supporters clubs throughout all the year, and then they are decorated with paper flowers and other typical elements of our city such as the horseshoe arches or Saint Raphael, the custody of our city. The participants dress up with the typical dresses, such as flamenco dress. Also the charriots are dressed up with fleared cloth
and flowers. These people begin "the battle" towards midday, in this moment a cracket bursts and the battle begins. More than 140000 carnations are thrown against tourists and Cordovans, that are flocking to contemplate this peculiar way to start our holidays.
