The Main Altar of the Church is situated in the central apse of the head of
the church, it can be seen from almost every corner of the building. The central apse is polygonal and it is covered by a gothic groin vault, forcing the author to stick to the layout of the medieval architecture, as in many churches of this period in our city.
The altar was made by the sculptor Félix Morales Negrete, an author that we know little things, however, we know that the altarpiece was hired by the year 1732 and that he died towards 1740, so the date of execution would be around these years.
It is a big altarpiece made with golden wood. It is divided into three parts and three streets, where the sides are chamfered to fit
the layout of the apse.
In the first part the solomonic columns are used decorated with flowers, dividing the space into three spaces. The other parts are occupied by to paintings: Saint Peter looking after the disabled and Saint Peter going out of the prison. In the middle there is a three lobated arch that covers a wooden sculpture, the Virgin with the Child.
The second part is similar to the first but there aren’t any solomonic columns, there are stipes. In the middle we find a wooden polycromed sculpture: Saint Anton or Saint Anthony the Hermit, small, it is represented old and it has a pig at his feet, one of its most distinctive attributes, since it is the patron of animals
and pigpens among others. On the left you find the sculpture of Saint Raphael Archangel, standing, carrying the poster that reads the oath: I swear to you that I am Raphael... with his other hand holding the fish, its most famous attribute.
In the third part, there is spherical vault. The space is divided into three parts by the pilasters. On each side we find the following paintings: Holy Martyrs and the altarpiece there is an Immaculate Conception, and above it, a white dove symbolizing the Holy Spirit.
In the lateral walls there two paintings: the Inmaculada Concepcion, surrounded by children angels, of unknown authorship, it is a work of correct composition, conducted the taste of the time. Another painting that stands up is Birth of Jesus, also anonymously work, which presents a division between the Terrenal World and the Celestial Work carried out through a proper break in glory.
