The Concepcion Chapel was ended in 1397 by Juan Pérez; he founded the
Hermandad de los Escribanos Publicos (Brotherhoods of Public Writers). Its name comes from a little Virgin, Our Lady of Conception that was inside the chapel.
We have been numerous speculations about when the work could begin, but we now only have the above date of 1397. Some think that the work was performed in the second half of the fourteenth century, other than for its architectural features the works began in the first half of the century. While, under our view, it is not unreasonable that the works commenced in early century, as their stylistic features are similar to those of other chapels in these dates, for example the Villaviciosa Chapel of the Saint
Lawrence Church.
This chapel has a rectangular plan covered by gothic rib vaults where its nerves are put on vegetable and zoomorphic decorations. Its walls are made with stone
bricks. A total of five arches have been preserved, almost all of them mixed in similar proportions but, for example, they have a thread without any decoration, the bottom is very thick ...
It is iluminated by trumpet windows. The lighting is believed to be effected in principle by an arrow slits and one eye, while the graves would be hosted by lucille that still we can be seen, although one intended to be an altar and another to access.
Definitely, we are in front of an example of a very simple arcuitecture, for example, you can also see it in the cantilevers in the corners. In short, this is a clear example of architecture that was made for this type of foundations at the moment, where simplicity was above everything, even it cold be coarseness or archaic.
