The Brotherhood


Complete Name.
Sacramental Brotherhood of Saint Victory and Brotherhood of Nazarenes of the Holy Christ of Agony and the Blessed Virgin, Holy Mary Mother of Redeemer, Our Lady of Health.

History.
It was founded in 1979 by a group of parishioners of the Church of Saint Victory. Since 1979 it makes its processional exit on the Holy Monday along the streets of Naranjo Section, being in 1989 when it puts the Holy Mary Mother of Redeemer. On Holy Tuesday of 1996, the Brotherhood does its first processional exit to the Official Itinerary. In 2004 it was remembered the 50th Anniversary of the enthronement of the Holy Christ of Agony and the 25th Anniversary of the Brotherhood.

Temple.
Church of Saint Victory. One of the churches founded in the 50s by Bishop Fray Albino González. As happens for the rests of his projects, the Cañero Section or the Cerro Section, the church is the centre of the Section, however it is smaller then the others. It was made according to the project of Carlos Sáenz of Santamaría, who dedicated the temple to the Saint Acisclus’s sister. The altarpiece which occupies the main altar comes from the Basilica of Saint Peter and it was in one of its lateral naves.

Nazarenes.

Tunic of the Nazarenes.
It is a purple tunic with white buttons, the cover faces purple, the cap in white, the belt and the gloves are white.

Holy Christ of Agony.
Christ suffering on the cross, in the presence of two roman assistants and a Centurion guarding him.

  • Author: Antonio Castillo Ariza (1954) and it is restored by Miguel Arjona Navarro (1992). The three romans which compose the Mistery are made by the cordovan sculptor Sebastián Montes (2008).

  • Processional Pass: The new Processional Pass of Our Lord is work of José Carlos Rubio Valverde (2005) and replaces the former one, it has a renaissance style in mahogany color. It was carved by Antonio Rubio Moreno and Rafael Valverde Toscano (1979-1984) in mahogany wood and illuminated by four lanterns, carved as well. The Cross is in tree style and it is carved by José Carlos Rubio Valverde (1998).

  • Bearers (Costaleros): 30.

  • Tunics: Purple with white buttons, the cover face is purple, the cloak is white and the belt and gloves white as well.

  • Candles: Red.

  • Flowers: Red carnations and purple iris.

  • Foreman: Jesús López Mata.

  • Music: Band of Bugles and Drums of "Our Lady of Health", Córdoba.

Outstanding Badges.

  • Guide Cross and the lanters are made in wood by the work shop José María Higuera.

  • Banner of the Brotherhood (1993) in purple velvet with silvergolden work by Manuel de los Rios, designed by Fray Ricardo de Córdoba and embroidered by the San Rafael workshops of Córdoba.

  • Book of Rules (1996) in purple velvet made by Mogaly from Córdoba and designed by José Carlos Rubio Valverde.
