The Image of the Holy Christ of Agony is made by cordovan sculptor Antonio Castillo Ariza, in 1954.
It is a crossed Christ, griefing in the Cross. It is a complete image very simple and smart. With a smaller size than the normal one, it has an impressive face, a face with a little marked feature, like the hairs and the beard, made with curly hair. Its sight is lost contrasts with the moment of agony, pain and grief.
The Crown of Thorns, a work made by
sculptor Miguel Arjona Navarro, it is not very charged of feelings, it reproduces the drops of blood which fall over the face of the Christ. The Cross is made like a tree, by cordovan José Carlos Rubio Valverde, presenting the Titulum and the corners, both in silver nickel.
The Lord of the Naranjo Section is one of the most loved images of the cordovan Holy Week. It is reknown the great effort made by the bearers to bring the Processional Pass till the Official Itinerary. In fact this section is far away from the centre of Córdoba. Today
He processions with two roman soldiers and a Centurion, all
made by the young cordoban sculptor Sebastian Montes.
Holy Mary Mother of Redeemer, Our Lady of Health does not accompany to the Image of Holy Christ of Agony during the procession, but it is very loved in the section. It is
the first work made by cordovan sculptor Miguel Ángel González Jurado, made in 1988, and restored by himself in 2007, correcting the polychromy and making new hands.
It is an image to dress, in fact only the hands and face are carved, it turns the head slightly on right. It has a low sight and the nose straight, it has the chin pronounced. It has the frown puckered like showing her griefing, it opens her beautiful lips, like restraining her pain. |
