Blessed Images

The Image of the Holy Christ of Mercifulness is an anonymous work of the XVIHoly Christ of Mercifulness Century, Renaissance.
It is a crucified Christ, joined to a wooden cross, which shows a feature very narrow, and great symmetry. The head is slightly leant towards the right, and he has long hair till the chest. His eyes are slightly open and his mouth shows the brutality of the scene. His clothes are reduced to a knotted loincloth on his left side.
The Cross is made like a tree, covered by golden parts on his sides, and in the upper part the Titulum.
In 1939 the Image was restored by the cordovan artist Don Rafael Díaz Peno, who modified the original figure, substituting the original crown of thorns, making the beard with few hairs and the loincloth is polychromed. In 1983 sculptor and professor Rafael Rivera Valle made a new restoration, but in this case he respected the aspect of the Image.

The Blessed Image of Our Lady of Tears in her Helplessness is, like the previous case, a work of anonymous author dated in the middle of the XVII Century. Our Lady of Tears in her Helplessness
It was in 1950 when the Brotherhood decided to worry about the Virgin, existing in the same Fernandina Church of Saint Peter image that curiously belonged to the Brotherhood of Sorrows of the Saint Hyacinth Hospital. Is in that moment when the Image changes the name, being named Holy Mary of Tears in her Helplessness.
Once it was integrated into the Brotherhood the Image was submitted to a deeper restoration process, and it was discovered that it was done with terracotta, and it was not polychrome wood, as it is often made the rest of images.
It is an Image among candles, being carved the hands and the face, the face is oval, with the pale face and low sight, there are six tears on her cheek. Her mouth shows the contained griefing, as well as the plunked frown.
