The Holy Week is a festivity with religious characteristic and with cultural manifestations very deep and firm in our city, however, nowadays, it is converted into an attraction with every kind of beliefs and, surely with its folkloric characteristic and at the same time artistical. There are more and more tourists, spanish and not, which visit us during this period attracted by an infinite number of sensations and livings.
The aim of this section is not to give only dates about the Holy Week or explain what happen in each Holy Week, in fact there are special web pages dedicated to this, and very known in the brotherhood surroundings. The aim is to send a special image of our Holy Week to that don’t know it, or are not aware of the beauty of it.
A Brotherhood is a group of people composed by women and men of every social class and age, which have in common to belong to the Catholic Religion and to show their love for a Blessed Images which is "strolled" during the procession of the Holy Week, dates when the people go out and live the streets in order to enjoy the Brotherhoods.
Those people who go to the Holy Week for the first time appreciate the different characteristic of the same ones, the differences among them. There are Brotherhoods of "the silence", without any music but are Brotherhood whose characteristic is the austerity and the reflection, all together with the silence of the streets. A clear example of this Brotherhood is the Good Death, whose saint is a Christ put in the cross, died. Another case is that of the Brotherhood of Holy Sepulchre, where Jesus is dead in his grave. Those who contemplate the procession have to respect this silence and to respect the penitents, and above all the Blessed Images.
On the other hand there are other Brotherhoods more cheerful, like the one situated in other sections of the city (Zumbacón, Campo de la Verdad, Naranjo...) these Brotherhoods are called "Brotherhoods of Joy", because the music of the repertory are more cheerful. Apart this distinction, every brotherhood has its own differences that make the difference from the rest, in the way they "walk", the music, etc.
Finally it could be a great proud for us can bring our grain of sand in order the Cordovan Holy Week could be a little bigger, and if possible to promote it nationally and internationally as it deserves, as a faith, cultural and artistic manifestation of great importance.
Then we have developed a little analysis of the different Brotherhoods, ordered in the order of exit, as well as a little study of their owners. We will explain the Official Itinerary and its itinerary, as well as the different Musical Bands that exist nowadays in the capital. We will treat the "Saeta" as artistical and religious phenomenon, and the particular vision who has the cordovan of it. We will show the past Official Posters of other Holy Weeks, the news reflected on the newspapers during the Major Week, even we will realize of the announce of every year. |
