Very close to the
Mosque-Cathedral and in the street of Don Ricardo Velázquez

Bosco, the archaeologist that restored a lot of doors of the Mosque, there is the
Alley of the Flowers. The beginning of the
Alley of the Flowers is shown by a wasp capital in the wall of a corner.
The Street of the Flowers is a symbol of our city; it is a typical image to take as a picture. Without any doubt is one of the most beautiful view of our city. The
Bell Tower of Hernán Ruiz II
the Young is trapped among the roofs of the white houses of the

ancient section. It is an impressive view with its flowers that gives to the street a wonderful scent and colour.
The houses of this street have been turned into souvenirs shops or other shops related to the tourism, so the primitive image has changed. Still, it retains the charm enough to participate in this section as a place of special interest to anyone wishing to visit our beautiful city.
At the bottom of the street there is a square that is neighbours court, in which the second house is perfectly desguised with by dozens of pots, and in which do not pass the years. The square has a wonderful fountain that was performed by Rafael

Bernier, an old neighbour of the street. The square has eight sides and there is a bank in the middle if you want to enjoy a wonderful sight. In the middle there is a little plain column of granite that keep an old and deteriorated corinth capital, that was made in the Adriano Period.
The street and the square exist since the most remote past but its aspect is renewed thank to the restoration carried out in the last century by the architect Víctor Escribano Ucelay, who substituted the former floor with a

granite floor, besides he added little pavement in granite too. Besides he put little roman arches that were in contrast with the whitewash of the walls end the green of the pots.
I don‘t know if you know the sensation of being in a
Cordoban May morning when the flowers have already blossomed. There is nobody in the streets and the silence wraps the ambience and the
Alley of the Flowers. Only the birds are singing and theinr singing is mixed with the sound of the water or the chime of the bells calling the believers to the mass. So you know…..come in May.
