Saint Catalina Door

        Opened since Almanzor period, this elegant /smart door to the orange trSaint Catalina Doorees court from its oriental part, there is know as Saint Catalina door dove to its proximity to Saint Catalina convent; that one after was called Saint Clara.
        This Renacentist door, sometimes catalogued as, plateresc, by Miguel Salcedo Hierro, due to its decoration.
        Nowadays it is attributed to Hernán Ruiz II the young (1508-1564), thanks to the bishop Cristóbal de Rojas, badge that decorates the keystone of the entrance arch with roman arch, this is Handed by two columns, with plain upright columns on the podium, that pulls up the weight of the wainscot, decoratedDetail of Saint Catalina Door with vegetable elements.
        The most important thing of the complex is the decoration of the pillars, which are decorated with the ancient alminar (bell tower) elements from Abd Al-Rahman III. With this wainscot, of the 3rnd part of the door it is divided into 3 parts.
        Thanks to the two columns with Corynth capital at the extremity, and the pillars inside. The threes niches were occupied by Antonio Del Castillo paintings. In the Relief that shows the Ancient Alminar of Al-Rahman IIImiddle "Saint Catalina" is represented, and at each side "Saint Acisclo" and "Saint Victory", patrons of the city.
        On the other side there are any rest. In the fronton you find the figure of the "Eternal Father" that ends up this smart complex. The doors are made in wood, but they have Bronze boards on then and are put with nails.
        The aldabones are made with zoomorphic figures; have an inscription dated in 1573. Probably the last restorations were made after death of the master in 1569 for Nieto Cumplido it is second important of the Cathedral, and it has been used for religious celebrations since the middle Age, including the Holy Week, this tradition continues nowadays. The brothers hoods stop at Saint Catalina Door and from it many of them start the parade due to the importance of the temple.
