Towards southeast of the ancient section of our city there is the Seville Door tThe Sevilla Doorhat leads to the Old Alcazar section also known as Saint Basil, thank to the ancient Convent of Saint Basil, today there is only the church of our Madam of the peace.
The section is a clear example of medieval, section making a clear difference from the Muslim section; on the other hand it is a section surrounded by walls, the Christian Kings Alcazar and the Castle of the Jewish Quarter or the walls of the XIV Century.
Ibn Baskuwal identified a totality of seven doors in the walls of the Medina, Beside the door is a sober structure attached to the wall by two archsand the Seville door is named known as the Door of the Grocers (Bab al-Ishbiliya or Bab al-Attarin). But it is known that after the reconquest he door is known as Seville Door. It was a place where the women gathered, from which you reach the handcraft market that cold be in the Old Alcazar.
The truth is that the ancient door, that mentions the arab sources, it changed a lot and it coud be placed next toSculpture "Ibn Hazm" which commemorates the ninth centenary of anniversary of his death the Caballerizas Reales Street (Royal Stables) where the wall was built, on the other side of Old Alcazar or Saint Basili section. The built door was rebuilt in the middle of the past century after being demolished.
It was made with sandstone ashlars; it presents an easy composition, with an unique arch, shouldered, without any other decorations only granite framing the arch. Crowning the complex there is ashield of the city.
Next ther is a tower with squared plan linked to the wall by horseshoe arches whose voussoirs are alterned into whole andThe Seville Door sight behind the statue of "Ibn Hazm" halves.
The aim of the entrance was studied by many experts and Basilio Pavon said that the arch was an ancient acueduct of the muslim period. Nowadays he only theory accepted is the one which explains the existence of an albarrrana tower with its walls of the XIV Century.
Below these arches there is a beautiful sculpture by MateoThe wall extends toward the river Ruiz Olmos, carried out in 1963 that remembers the ninth anniversary of the dead of a politician Ibn Hazm. It is made standing up carrying a roll with his most famous work: "The collar of the dove". It is shown in a thoughtful position thinking about the real essence of love.
Walking towards the river there are four towers, one with eight sides and the other one squared. They are put close to the wall made of ashlars. Behind the walls there is the historical section, a section different from the rest of the city.
