importance from an artistic, historical, social, political point of view, and because it is the unique synagogue in Andalusia. Their inscriptions are valuable which is placed at the forefront of this type of construction in our country.
There are many historical moments of our building which has witnessed, such as the expulsion of the jews, who made it became used as a hospital. Subsequently became a hermitage, where the guild of shoemakers in the city had its own Guild. And finally it was a nursery school, until, in 1884
, they discovered some inscriptions, which led to a thorough restoration process.
The named inscriptions were studied by Rafael Romero Barros, Julio Romero‘s father, the cordovan painter. One year later, in 1885, it is declared national monument. Till then the monument was of the Church, being delivered by Manuel Nieto Cumplido, province cultural delegate, who, in 1981 inscribed it as property of the State.

all together with the Mosque and the Christian Kings Alcazar, shows the cultural diversity of Córdoba, clear example of coexistence among different civilizations that have passed through Córdoba.
Next we are going to analyse the residence of Jews in our city, and another special section dedicated to the synagogue, the temple.
