Red Lounge in Viana Palace, Cordoba (Spain)

Red Lounge

It receives the name due to the red wallpaper of the lounge. It is situatedRed Lounge over the mentioned Tobias Lounge, it has a rectangular plan with its vertexes in chaflan, getting in this way an interesting effect.
All is kept in this luxurious palace comes from the Duque de Rivas Palace in Madrid, like the marvellous lamp made with Bohemian glass and bronze, of the XIX Century, which hangs from the moulding of the ceiling. In the four corners of the lounge there are four mantelpieces, on these, four split up mirrors that reach the wainscot which finish the walls, decorated with garlands .
Draws too much attention a Chinese screen, called Coromandel, situated in the middle of one of the big sides of the lounge; with 12 leaves and decorated with oriental motives, was given as present to Don Álvaro de Urzáiz. In front of the screen there is a red sofa, the favourite one by the Marquis, where she napped, and close to this two tables which kept on it a big collection of stamps made in noble metals.         The furniture is mainly french, and there are till eight banks, in Louis XVI style, two banks in Louis XIII style, two little Portuguese little armchairs Louis XV style, and a sofa Louis XVII. The historian say that it was one of the most lived parts of the house.
On the left of this screen, there is a little show window with twenty three pieces of Indian Company porcelains. There are more porcelains spread all around the lounge, on tables, podiums and mantelpieces… The floor is covered with two rugs, one Persian located at the entrance, and the other one belonging to the Generalisimo Foundation.
One of the paintings more interesting of the collection is here. It represents "The Queen Victory Eugenia" and it is signed by Joaquín Sorolla and dedicated to his Majesty . there is also a portrait of an infant or the "The girl of the Dove", both anonymous.
