Lounge of Signatures in Viana Palace, Cordoba (Spain)

The Lounge of Signatures

The Lounge of Signatures recieves this name due to the table of the XVII Century that is put into the room. It is put on four legs of lyre, and it is made in rustic Signatures Table named this unique salonand elegant style as the great part of the palace. In it there wast the book of signature, which was signed by all the famous visitors of the house. Nowadays you can not contemplate the book, because it is not conserved in the lounge, but we know tha a lot of famous people signed it, such as the Queen Fabiola of Belgium, or the Queen of Spain, Doña Sofia, when she was a princess, or the General Franco, when he was the Chief of the State. A column lamp, a bronze desk and other objects are the always put on this desk.
The floor is covered by a wonderful persian rug. From the ceiling a wonderful copper lamp hangs of the XIX Century, similar to the others, situated in the other rooms, the Lounge of Madrileños and the Tobias Lounge and another one in the Admiral Bedroom. The vault, has a decoration that represents the four continents known: Europe, America, Africa or The Lounge of SignaturesAsia.
Among the furniture of the lounge there is a sofa with polychromated decoration, chairs and little tables with the spanish characteristic, chest of drawers, monk armchairs and other objects. There are two elegant wardrobes with renacentist style, with golden handles, all put next to the signature desk. We have to stand out the paintings belonging to the flamingo school of the XVII Century, conctretely they belong to Frans Franken II (Amberes 1581- amberes,1642), that represents the scenes of Jesus Christ and his Passion, as it is tha case of "The Marriage of Cana". Finally next to the door that leads to the Tobias' Lounge, there is a scissors chair with a high back decorated with shells; the back and the seat are covered with carved polychromated leather.
