Toledo Bedroom in the Viana Palace, Cordoba (Spain)

Toledo Bedroom

It is situated in the Harquebuses Gallery, on the left, then we enter into the Toledo Bedroomknown Toledo Bedroom, crossing a door flanked by two guadamecies chairs. The name is given by the bed, made in forged iron in the castillisn city in the XIX Century. It was a very austere bed in whose head appears written a famous sentence by Saavedra: "Surrering for leaving".
The room has popular chairs, like a bridge, a baroque table, with decorations, a golden mirror, an Louis XIII Style chair and a little image of Saint Raphael among the valuable objects. A red alpujarreña rug and as the rest of the bedroom, it is situated in front of the bed.
Now we are explining three more pieces of forniture, like a Louis XIII contemporary armchair of the XVII Century, a little bank ofLouis XIII armchair the XVII Century, a stool or a platform chair. The armchair, situated in the linkside of the lounge, it has its own importance: a high back and upholstered with silks decorated with floral and vegetable elements, this smart armchair has legs and curved arms. The bank is without back, upholstened in the seat, this is situated at the end of the bed and it belongs to Louis XIII, and it is similar to the previous armchair. Then another stanging out object is a stool that is put next to the bed; it is a XVII Century stool, and it has the same charactreristcs of the previous, but it is a special one due to its height and its back; it has french origin, this kind of forniture was used for different function, such as for sewing, to cange the nappies to the children or sitting by the fire in winter; without any doubt, it is a curious piece of forniture, and nowadays it is not used.
